Workplace health and safety consist of practices and measures for the protection of employees against injury and illness associated with job tasks and the work environment. These are organized systems for risk identification and control popularly known as "hierarchy of controls," ranking from eliminating hazards, substituting safer ones, engineering controls, administrative measures, and PPE. Employers shall provide the safe working environment and equipment, while workers are responsible for observing basic safety rules and wearing protective equipment. The combined effort is oriented towards risk minimization and a healthy workforce (Shaw, 2023).
